The Woods Air Movement USA online fan selection tool now incorporates the Fan Energy Index (FEI), allowing you to make informed, eco-friendly choices effortlessly!
What is the Fan Energy Index?
The FEI is an energy efficiency metric that was first developed by AMCA International and further defined in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in their Energy Conservation Program: Energy Conservation Standards for Fans & Blowers. The FEI is a ratio of the actual fan efficiency to a baseline fan efficiency and was designed to encourage responsible application of fans and to drive significant and quantifiable energy savings. Taking into account the fan size, pressure, application and drives - including speed control, the FEI doesn’t just look at the peak efficiency of a fan but at its performance at all levels, giving an average. This allows you compare different types of fan – not just like-for-like.
What does this mean for you?
It's simple: when selecting our Axial Fans, you'll see the FEI prominently displayed, giving you a clear picture of their energy efficiency. Direct Drive Axial Fans need to achieve an FEI of 1.0 or more to meet DOE standards; and the higher the number, the more energy efficient the fan. We also indicate whether a fan is CEC (California Energy Commission) compliant.
Why does this matter?
Well, choosing an energy efficient fan isn't just about reducing costs or meeting requirements; it's about reducing your environmental footprint too. By integrating the FEI into our tool, we're empowering you to make greener decisions without the hassle.
