Woods Air Movement products and components are designed, manufactured, and tested to international quality standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AMCA standards. Our test laboratory is AMCA approved to conduct performance tests in accordance with AMCA 210.

The History of Woods

Woods was founded in 1909 in Colchester, United Kingdom. We first started out as manufacturers of small electric motors and introduced a range of propeller fans in the 1920s.

Over the years, Woods has evolved into the design and manufacture of axial fans, developing the first aerofoil blade design. This continuous development has evolved into one of the world’s largest ranges of certified axial fans for almost any application imaginable including fire safety, ventilation industrial process, oil & gas and marine.

In 1986, The American Fan company was purchased by GEC, who owned Woods from 1964, and joined the Woods ‘family’.

Woods merged with ABB Fläkt in 2002 to create Fläkt Woods which was subsequently merged with Denco Happel in 2016 to create FläktGroup. Woods has over 100 years of experience and knowledge in designing axial flow fans and remains a distinct brand within the FläktGroup family.

In 2019, Woods Air Movement re-entered the US market. We specialize in Tunnel and Metro ventilation and building ventilation and fire safety.
